K-6 Spring Waterbug Survey

Weeks 2 to 9 Term 4 2023

It is nearly spring and that’s the time have your students investigate water quality and waterbugs in the K-6 Waterbug Survey!  In this ever-popular science investigation, Bournda EEC teachers assist your students to conduct waterbug surveys at a waterway close to your school. Students collect the waterbugs, identify and count them and enter the results online. Equipment is provided. There is NO cost for this program for public schools.

Bournda EEC staff will be at your school prior to the departure time to meet with staff participating on the day.   Please remind the students to wear gumboots or old shoes at the waterway.

To make the exercise a valid collection of scientific data, you may upload the findings into iNaturalist and the information will be added to your schools iNaturalist account.
